Best Paneer Tikka Sliders

Best Paneer Tikka Sliders

These Paneer Tikka Sliders are the perfect summer party food. They are cheesy, flavorful and everything you want in a party food.

They are so easy to make and great for feeding a crowd. I loved the ease of making these specially if you use store-bought tikka sauce, it cannot be simpler. They are easy to prep ahead and all we need to do is pop them in the oven right before guests arrive.

With minimum prep and all the fun of eating a slider.

Additionally, these would make such a great game night food also. Or birthday parties, Mother’s Day or just a quick hassle-free dinner.

What are sliders?

Sliders are small mini sandwiches usually bun is used, baked with sauce and baked. Kind of a burger. I love the idea of small offerings at parties specially for appetizers that is easy to prepare and involves less work and more time you can spend with your guests or family. I love how I was not assembling one mini sandwich at a time, rather just quick loaf of buns. No fuss, dish.

Ingredients for Paneer Tikka Sliders

Paneer, Bell Peppers, Onions, Jalapeno

Tikka Sauce

Dinner Rolls

Cheese

Garlic Butter

Preparation

Paneer is marinated for few minutes and then slightly cooked.

Tikka sauce can be prepared at home, but I would recommend store-bought is also fine. There are few out there easily available at whole foods, or online. If you make tikka sauce at home, its easy to cook the tomatoes, onions and ginger, garlic and then grind it. You can prepare the sauce few days in advance, and it can be freeze for few weeks. I loved using Maya Kaimal‘s jarred sauce for this recipe or this sauce.

Pretty much you layer the paneer, veggies with sauce and cover it with cheese of your choice. Finally add garlic butter on top and then these are baked in preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes. 10 minutes covered with foil and rest of the time uncovered.

Tips

Cheese – Any cheese of your preference can be used. You can use shredded or cheese slices too. Like it spicy, use pepper jack cheese.

Sauce should be thicker for these, or else it will make the buns soggy.

You can use any type of dinner rolls, but Hawaiian rolls are perfect small bite option. If you are interested in making buns at home, try these ladi pav recipe, make them smaller in size as smaller are easier to hold and eat without making a big mess.

Make ahead

These can be prepared in advance before your guests start arriving.

These mini sliders are great appetizers and then you want to add some extra dishes on the side like a salad or some fries, dip etc.

Ingredients

  • 150 grms Paneer
  • 3 tbsp yogurt
  • 1 tsp tandoori masala
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 small bell pepper sliced
  • 1 small onion sliced
  • 1 small jalapeno sliced
  • ¼ cup Cilantro chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves of garlic grated
  • 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 cup Tikka Sauce
  • 1 Dinner rolls 12 in a pack (Hawaiian rolls)

Instructions

  • Mix the yogurt and spices, make marinade. Add sliced paneer to it and let it sit for 10 minutes. You can cover it and leave it for longer time too.
  • Take 2 tbsp of oil in a pan on medium heat, add paneer once the oil is hot. Grill it on both sides until you see some color.
  • Assemble the sliders
  • Preheat oven at 350 F. Prepare 8” inch or 9” baking tray or pan. For easy use and to remove the buns easily use parchment paper on the bottom.
  • Cut the sliders in half, the whole loaf. Slather them with the tikka sauce, and then place paneer slices on each bun, you can do two layers of paneer too if you like. I went with one.
  • Add cheese and followed by peppers, jalapenos, and onions. Slather tikka sauce on the inside of top buns too. Cover with the top layer of buns, drizzle, or slather garlic butter on it.
  • Cover the whole thing with a foil and bake at 350 F for 20-25 minutes. Halfway through the process, remove the foil and bake uncovered until you see nice toasty color on the buns.
  • Remove them and add some cilantro on top, if you like.
  • Serve with extra tikka sauce, green chutney, and some chopped jalapenos on the side.
  • Garlic Butter – To make garlic butter, melt butter and add grated garlic and finely chopped cilantro to it. Give it a mix and leave it.

Notes

Keep the tikka sauce thick. Thinner sauce will make it soggy.
Cut the paneer slices based on the size of the bun so you have proper ratio of paneer to bun.
I used shredded mozzarella, but try it with pepper jack or any other melting cheese of your choice.
Did you make this recipe?
