Spicy Fried Cauliflower Tacos
These spicy fried cauliflower tacos are so delicious! Serve them with some slaw, mango sauce and lots of pico de galo.
As a vegetarian, I always love getting unique and tacos that are delicious and of course accommodates my diet choice. I love fried cauliflower tacos. Fried cauliflower florets taste so good by themselves but in the form of tacos along with other condiments they make a great dinner.
Frying cauliflower florets in a batter is exactly like making pakoras or chili. I wanted to initially bake cauliflower bites but decided to fry them. You can also bake them. It has regular pantry ingredients like all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, and some dry spices. I love spicy food, so I added some garam masala, taco seasoning and some hot sauce too. I know its like too many ingredients, but it gives them such a nice flavor.
Tips/Suggestions
If you do not have cornstarch, you can use rice flour or potato starch. You want them to have a nice crispy fluffy coating. Additionally, I have added baking soda to make the batter fluffy and light when it will be fried.
Assemble them closer to eating them for dinner. Or serve everything and let people assemble them as they like.
Cauliflower will not be as crunchy as it is when fried once you add all the sauce and toppings.
The cauliflower florets are first cooked in hot water so that they are cooked all the way inside too. Not for too long, just for 3 minutes. If you cook longer, they will turn mushy.
I also made a mango jalapeno sauce that really adds nice tropical flavor to the dish. Serve these with avocados, pico de galo, lots of cotija cheese and you are all set for a lovely dinner. You can even make some slaw to go with it, or some creamy chipotle sauce.
To assemble the tacos, heat up tortillas on direct flame until slightly cooked and has some marks on them. Place cauliflower florets, pico de galo, cheese, mango sauce and more hot sauce. Corn Tortillas can be homemade or store bought.
